A native of Woodruff, South Carolina, Derrick is a graduate of Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Christian Education and Visual Arts and a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling. He and his wife, Chrissy, have been married for 23 years and are the proud parents of four children: Ella Grace, Hudson, Sadie Kate, and MaryJane.

For the past 25 years, Derrick has devoted his life to full-time ministry, serving in cities across the country including Philadelphia, PA; Atlanta, GA; Birmingham, AL; Austin, TX; Orlando, FL; and the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area.

An artist and creative thinker, Derrick is passionate about innovative and imaginative approaches to discipleship in the local church. He is a committed advocate for church planters and enjoys partnering with leaders both locally and globally to advance the gospel. His heart for missions has taken him to 22 countries over the span of his ministry.

Derrick’s favorite part of his calling is connecting with people—serving as a voice of encouragement and support as they grow in their personal walk with Jesus.
